Loop It Up: Amplified

In 2019, Loop It Up Savannah launched the Mindfulness Zone to empower children in managing emotionally challenging circumstances. The program’s success sparked a desire within the community to see it grow. Our mission was to expand Loop It Up Savannah’s impact and bring mindfulness to the broader community.

How might we amplify Loop It Up Savannah’s efforts to create a more resilient, trauma-responsive community?

“Everyone wants more, more, more of what we do.”

— Ashley Kendrick, Mindfulness Zone Program Director, Loop It Up Savannah

The Process

Using a Design Thinking approach, we conducted primary and secondary research to define the problem and explore solutions. Divergent and convergent techniques helped us develop ideas that resonated with the community’s needs.

Stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, and bodystorming sessions were critical in generating insights and testing prototypes. Our research revealed the community’s readiness to become more trauma-responsive, and we identified Loop It Up Savannah’s ability to serve as the catalyst for this change.

“The kids love everything about the Mindfulness Zone Program. Whether it’s learning to calm their bodies or communicate about why they are upset, it’s just been awesome. You can really see a change in them.”

— Stephanie Glover, School Counselor, Juliette Low Elementary School

My Role

As the creative director, I was involved in every phase of the human-centered design process. From transcribing interviews to synthesizing data to live prototyping, I guided the team through each step, ensuring we met our 10-week timeline.

Toward the project’s end, I created style guides and oversaw the visual direction for the design proposal boards and website redesign, providing live reviews of the designs. To wrap everything up, the team compiled a final pitch presentation for Loop It Up Savannah’s executive director, Molly Lieberman.

The Proposal

Our proposal outlined strategies for expanding community involvement through speculative design, foresight, and regenerative thinking. By scaling the Mindfulness Zone’s reach to the larger Savannah community, Loop It Up Savannah can create a model that inspires others to foster trauma-responsive communities.

The proposal serves as both a roadmap for Loop it Up Savannah and a resource for applying for grants, forming partnerships, and presenting Parent and Community programs to other organizations.

“My hope is that the program grows in ways that are helpful and relevant throughout the Savannah community and beyond.”

— Molly Lieberman, Executive Director, Loop It Up Savannah

Loop It Up’s Redesigned Website

Alongside the design proposal, our team offered to redesign Loop It Up’s website.
Loop It Up happily accepted, using our work as inspiration for the official website redesign.
